Training Camps

Following the successful first training camp, held in February in conjunction with Korfball South Australia’s Summer Classic, National Coach Tim Miller has finalised the remainder of the training camp schedule. These camps take place roughly every three weeks, kicking off on the weekend of March 16-17, and continue until the team departs for the 2019 IKF World Championships in South Africa (more on that below). The full training schedule can be found on the National Team Training Calendar, also accessible from the National Team dropdown on the main menu.

Times and venues for the camps will be confirmed shortly, as efforts are being made to ensure these camps are as cost-effective as possible. For logistical and expenditure reasons all camps will be held in Adelaide. The calendar will be updated as details are confirmed, so make sure to check back regularly.

These camps, as with all National Squad trainings, are open to all players to encourage development and competition. For those players wishing to be available for selection for the World Championships, attendance at the camps is expected. Anyone unable to attend, for any reason, should inform Tim Miller as early as possible. Those who are travelling from interstate should also get in contact with Tim to discuss options.

Travel Plans

Based on the IKF imposing greater control on team lodgings, travel arrangements for the team selected are relatively inflexible. The proposed travel dates (subject to confirmation from Korfball Australia, the IKF and the Local Organising Committee) will see the National Team depart Australia on July 29th, and depart Durban, South Africa on August 11th. The tournament itself starts on August 1st, with the medal matches being played on August 10th.

It is hoped that the early release of proposed travel dates will assist with anyone who needs to take time off from work or studies to travel, either in an official or spectator capacity.
