Korfball Australia are in an unfortunate position, as we must consider withdrawing our U23 team from the upcoming World Championships, to be held in the Czech Republic, due to a low number of committed players for this event.

The U23 World Championships, as mentioned, will take place in the Czech Republic, from the 9th to the 16th of July, 2016, with up to a week prior to the event spent in the Netherlands for acclimatization and training. It is a requirement that all players wanting to be a part of this team must be available for this entire period of time. We anticipate this to cost players between $3000 and $4000 for the lead up training and trip. Potential players must be under the age of 23 as of the 1st of January, 2016. This truly is a rare opportunity, as the chance to play international sport does not come up very often. Additionally, the tournament is to be the last ever U23 World Championships, and it would be hugely disappointing to not be able to have Australia represented.

We need players who can commit to these dates and costs, have several years of korfball experience and/or experience in a high level of similar sport (A grade, Div 1 State League

[including junior ranks] or similar; district and/or State Representative level; or the like) to fill out the contact form below ASAP so we can make a decision on our entry.

If we don’t receive commitment from enough players by 1st February, 2016, then we will unfortunately have to withdraw from this event. This will mean several disappointed players, a loss of opportunity for the next generation of international players, and a loss of international ranking points.
