Korfball Australia is pleased to announce the formation of the brand new U23 Development Squad. This squad is designed to be a precursor to the U23 National Squad, which will provide the U23 National Team, who will compete at the U23 World Championships in 2016.
Phil Sibbons, following on from coaching the Open National Team in Belguim, has now had a weeks rest, and is ready to shift his focus to the U23 side of the National Team program. As such, we are now actively looking for any and all players between the age of 16 and 22 to join the preliminary stages of the Development Squad. Korfball experience is not necessary at this stage, however some level of sporting background in similar sports (ideally Netball and/or Basketball) is preferable. More information can be found on the Development Squad Training event page. Also on this page is an expression of interest form. If you are interested, please fill out this form ASAP, as the squad forms on the 4th of December. Training’s are initially running on three consecutive Friday nights, at Sturt Gym at Flinders University, from 7PM to 9PM. A nominal cost of $5 per session will help cover the hire cost of facilities. Interstate (non-SA) players are more than welcome to express interest, and Phil will liaise with these players individually.
If you know of anyone who may be interested in this squad, or know of anyone who should be interested but perhaps doesn’t understand the opportunities this kind of squad can present, please share this information with them. At this point in time, we are seeking to cast the net wide, in order to capture as much potential as possible.
As always, you can keep up to date with the going ons of the various National Squads on the National Teams page.
Come and checkout some of the kids at social!
Invite them to the session! It’s for everyone!
Hester, Amy, Jonathon, Owen, Claire, Ellie, Bree, Jacqui, Luke, Mel, Erin, Chris, Nikki, Kerrie-ann, Tiahn…as your coach, I reckon you should go along, at least for a week or two
Definitely will be going along, thank you! :)
The times are incorrect “7:00 pm – 5:12 am ” on the flyer, can someone please amend?
No sleepover? Damn
Hester, that would be a pretty cruel sleepover….finishing at 5.12am……and very precise!!
Amended, thanks for spotting that
Korfball Australia I can’t take credit…it was one of the teachers I forwarded it to for their students!
