Now that the World Championships have been run and won once again, it is time to turn our focus back to the U23 side of international competition. The IKF have released the following:
During the recent International Korfball Federation Council Meeting the IKF Council made a draw to establish the pools for the IKF U23 World Korfball Championship to be held from 9 to 16 July 2016 in Olomouc, Czech Republic.
The result of the draw is:
Pool A Pool B Belguim Netherlands Portugal Chinese Taipei England Catalonia Czech Republic Australia Hong Kong China China South Africa Dominican Republic
The teams were drawn in pairs according to the current IKF World Ranking (August 2015) plus a tie breaking rule based on the IKF U21 European Korfball Championship in 2014 plus the addition that no more than two Asian countries play in one pool.
Dominican Republic participates for the first time in an IKF U23 World Korfball Championship.
Dominican Republic qualified as IKF U23 All American Korfball Champion.
Following the last IKF U23 World Korfball Championship held in Barcelona in 2012, The Netherlands is the reigning champion.
