As the World Korfball Championships draws ever closer, and the National Team finalises its preparations for the tournament, National Coach Tim Miller has appointed Bethan Channing and Andrew Hutchesson as his Team Captains. In announcing the captains, Tim noted, “To be given the honour of leading your country at a World Championships is a wonderful recognition of not only your service but also your preparation and influence within the team environment.”

Bethan has been a mainstay of the Open National Team since the 2015 World Korfball Championships, and is the only player in the team who participated at the 2017 World Games. This will be her fourth open international event.

Andrew made his Open National Team debut at the 2014 Asia-Oceania Korfball Championships, and despite missing the 2017 World Games will also participate in his fourth international tournament.

Recognition of these appointments can be found on the National Team hub, with a “C” being added next to Bethan and Andrew’s name to signify their appointment.

Congratulations to Bethan and Andrew, and we wish you and the team the best of luck for the World Korfball Championships. Australia’s tournament starts on the evening of August 1st, with a match against Poland at 7:15 PM (ACST).
